How to Safely Download and Install the Workfolio Desktop App on Windows

Workfolio

Last Update 7 bulan yang lalu

Some Windows users may see security warnings while downloading or installing the Workfolio desktop app. These alerts often show up because the app is new and Windows or certain antivirus tools have not yet built enough trust for it. The file is safe, and you can install it by following the steps below.

Step 1: Download the Workfolio Windows App

Download the official Windows installer from:

On the downloads page, click the Windows icon to download Workfolio+Setup.exe.

If the browser shows the warning
“Workfolio+Setup.exe isn’t commonly downloaded,”
follow these steps:

  1. Open the Downloads panel in Chrome.

  2. Move your cursor over the message

  3. Workfolio+Setup.exe isn’t commonly downloaded.

  4. You will see three dots appear at the right side.

  5. Click the three dots.

  6. Select Keep Anyway.

When the SmartScreen popup appears showing Cancel / Delete / ▾, click the small down arrow (▾) next to Delete to open the additional options. Then choose ‘Keep anyway’.

The file will now download successfully.

Step 2: Install the Downloaded EXE File

After the file is downloaded:

  1. Open your Downloads folder.

  2. Locate the downloaded Workfolio+Setup.exe.

  3. Double click the file to start installation.

  4. If Windows SmartScreen shows a blue warning popup:

    • Click More info

    • Click Run anyway

Follow the installation steps to complete the setup.

If your antivirus shows a warning, choose Ignore, Allow, or Trust, since these alerts are false positives caused by reputation based scanning.

Why These Warnings Happen

These warnings do not indicate any real threat. They appear because:

  • The installer is newly released

  • Windows SmartScreen has not yet built trust

  • Antivirus tools rely on reputation scoring for new files

As more people download Workfolio, these warnings will naturally disappear.

If the User Still Faces Issues

Ask them to try:

  • Restarting the computer

  • Temporarily disabling third party antivirus

  • Adding the installer to the antivirus whitelist

  • Trying the download again in another browser
